A Kansas City man has admitted in federal court that he robbed five gas stations across Missouri in January 2023, including two in our area.

The U.S. District Attorney’s Office for Western Missouri announced Tuesday, Jan. 21 the guilty plea made by 26-year-old Kentrail M Collins. According to the office, Collins admitted to the Jan. 5, 2023, armed robbery of a BreakTime just off Interstate 70 in Boonville and a Casey’s in Oak Grove. Collins also admitted to robberies in Columbia, Joplin and Lamar, as well as leading the Missouri State Highway Patrol on a pursuit that reached speeds of 120 miles per hour.  The pursuit resulted in Collins crashing his car and continuing the chase on foot before he was arrested.

Collins is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in federal prison. A sentencing hearing will take place after a pre-sentencing investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
