KMMO has marked January as “Read To Your Child” month, encouraging parents to sit down with their kids each night to end the day with a bedtime story. But building a lifelong appreciation for reading takes a year-round effort.

Teresa Gezella, children’s librarian at the Marshall Public Library, says spending each evening with your children around a book can make a big difference in their lives.

Gezella reflects on some of the titles her children enjoyed reading during their youth.

The Marshall Public Library has several resources available for parents and children to develop their reading interests, including a weekly program for young children.

KMMO will also feature children’s stories on AM 1300 this Sunday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.; the entirety of the Chiefs’ game against Buffalo will air on KMMO-FM 102.9.
