The St Louis Blues fell behind early and had no answer for two early goals by the Dallas Stars, the only two goals in Saturday night’s shutout loss at Enterprise Center.

Evgenii Dadonov scored the first goal for Dallas seven minutes into the contest, then provided an assist on Esa Lindell’s power play goal two-and-a-half minutes later. The Blues won 55 percent of their face offs and recorded 33 shots on goal, but weren’t able to get anything past keeper Casey DeSmith.

The shutout was the first suffered by the Blues this season, who are still struggling to stay apace in the wild card chase. They remain fifth in the Central Division on 50 points, trailing Minnesota by ten points for third. Calgary won their third straight game Saturday night, now putting the Blues five points behind a Flames squad who still have three games in hand.

The Blues welcome Vancouver to Enterprise Center for their next game, set for Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
