The Moberly City Council adopted an ordinance placing a sales tax question on the General Municipal Election ballot in April.
The council took this action during its January 21 meeting. This is a renewal of a current one-half of one percent sales tax the city has in place for transportation purposes. The council approved the ordinance placing the question on the ballot. The election will be held on Tuesday, April 8.
In other news, the council approved a motion appointing Bob Riley to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The council then appointed Josh Barrett to the Board of Adjustment to complete the unexpired term of Tom Hall, which expires in December 2025. Barrett’s appointment was approved during the council’s previous meeting, however, there was a mistake in the resolution that stated Barrett was serving a five-year term. This action from the council corrects that mistake and clarifies that Barrett is only filling the current term until the end of the year.
