Boonville residents will be asked to renew the city’s Capital Improvement Sales Tax during the General Municipal Election in April.
The Boonville City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance to renew the tax and place it on the ballot during its January 21 meeting. This is a one-half of one percent sales tax that was originally passed in 1985, and has been renewed every five years.
If passed, this tax would continue to be in effect until 2030. The election is set for Tuesday, April 8.
The council also passed a resolution to approved a lease agreement with NCL Government Capital for a street sweeper. City Administrator Kate Fjell explained it will cost $46,000 a year to lease the unit. This lease replaces an older unit the city has in its fleet that is no longer in good shape.
