After several weeks of surveys and discussions, the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education has voted to not make any changes to school start times for next year.
Superintendent Dr Todd Fraley says he was hoping to seeing a change, but multiple factors contributed to making any change difficult.
Also at Monday night’s meeting, Fraley informed the board that the district was considering two possible calendars for the next school year. Fraley says while district is limited by the need to wait until after the State Fair to start the year, the calendars have two options for the spring semester.
The Sedalia School Board also approved June 2 through 20 as the dates for summer school. Also Monday night, the board approved the applications for the district to trademark and copyright their new branding and logos, and also gave the go-ahead to pursue annexation of their recently acquired acreage along Route B into the City of Sedalia. The board also approved the Smith-Cotton Junior High course and student resource guide for the next school year, along with four change orders for projects at the junior high and Sedalia Middle School totaling $172,107.10.
The board also approved setting different meeting dates because of upcoming conflicts. Sedalia 200’s board meeting for February will now take place March 3, as several board members will take part in a conference out of state during the final week of February. The board also scheduled meetings on March 31 and April 14. Both meetings in March will take place in the Smith-Cotton High School Commons.
