A Smith-Cotton senior has earned one of the most prestigious honors available to members of the Reserve Officers Training Corps.

Masyn Kruse was recognized at Monday night’s Sedalia 200 School Board meeting as one of this year’s Legion of Valor Bronze Cross recipients. Superintendent Doctor Todd Fraley commended Kruse’s leadership and hard work that went toward earning the award, which only a select few achieve each year.

Kruse is the latest in a line of Smith-Cotton JROTC members who have earned the Bronze Cross. Fraley highlights the strong legacy the program continues to develop.

Kruse was also recognized Monday night as the Sedalia School Board’s nominee for the John T Belcher Scholarship offered by the Missouri School Boards Association.

Smith-Cotton JROTC members who have also earned the Bronze Cross include Draiven Short, Leia Goodwin, Brittany Bobbitt, Ericka Tackett, Laura Haney, Krysta Ott, Hannah Ott, Caitlyn Craig, Paul Chernookiy, Jordan Bush, Alexandria Stewart, Aurora Raphael, Shelbi Davis and Nikkole Warren.
