The latest project in the Northwest Bridge Bundle has experienced another two-week delay for its start time.

Contractors have delayed the start of the project to replace the Route D bridge over Mussel Fork, west of Lake Nehai in northern Chariton County, to Feb. 17. The bridge that handles fewer than 200 vehicles per day on average was originally slated to close earlier this month. The span was built in 1947 and is one of 31 poor-condition bridges that will be replaced or rehabilitated as part of the Northwest Bridge Bundle.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says contractors still plan to complete the replacement bridge by the end of June. Crews continue to work on a replacement bridge for Route 11 south of Mendon over the Salt Creek, with an anticipated completion date of mid-March.
