The Sedalia 200 School District could build a pair of structures on the Smith-Cotton High School campus to house two parts of the district experiencing significant growth.
Supt. Dr Todd Fraley reported at last week’s board of education meeting that the district is seeking to add a concrete pad to the athletic complex, for eventual use as a maintenance shed. Fraley says the district’s maintenance needs continue to grow, which may require more space to provide storage and repairs.
McCollester Construction provided an estimate for the work at $49,980, just below the minimum amount that requires the district to put the project out for bid. The board will consider the project at their next meeting March 3.
Also at last week’s meeting, Fraley expressed the need for the district to design and build a dedicated space at the high school for the wrestling program.
Fraley adds that the area could also be used by additional programs including speed and agility training, as well as dance and cheer. If approved by the board, Hollis and Miller would pursue some preliminary ideas before developing a full-scale design build.
