The Marshall City Council approved an appointment Tuesday night to the city’s housing authority.
The council agreed to the nomination of Lindsey Parton during their regular meeting Feb. 4. Mayor Vince Lutterbie says Parton came highly recommended by other members of the board.
The council gave second reading and approval to three ordinances vacating rights of way on Grant and Voorhees streets, along with a nearby alleyway, to allow construction of the new gas turbine plant later this year. Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, the council gave first reading to an ordinance establishing an agreement with Saline County Emergency Management. Lutterbie says the ordinance came recommended by the regional planning commission.
The ordinance also authorizes payment of $1.89 per resident to the county’s emergency management office. The council also signed off on four contracts submitted by Marshall Municipal Utilities for broadband installation, two with Coleman’s Plumbing of Marshall, and two with TNT Underground Construction of Belle.
