The Missouri Department of Economic Development has awarded 52 projects a series of Community Development Block Grants totaling over $25 million.

Seven cities in our area are among the recipients named in Thursday afternoon’s announcement. The largest award for our area is going to Windsor, who will receive over $665,000 for street repair projects. Boonville will receive $500,000 for continued renovations on the former Kemper Military Academy campus. The remaining five area cities are receiving funds to cover the cost of demolishing structures no longer safe for use. Those cities are Bevier ($189,088), Chillicothe ($268,000), Clifton Hill ($94,150), Higbee ($259,000), and Stover ($94,900).

The Community Development Block Grant program is designed to support the wellbeing of Missouri communities and create greater opportunities for growth. The grants can address local health and safety concerns or improve local facilities, including community centers and senior centers. Additional details about these grants and how they’re awarded are available on the Missouri Department of Economic Development website.
