A head-on collision between two semi-trucks on Interstate-70 claimed the lives of two drivers Friday afternoon in Lafayette County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a westbound semi-truck driven by a 65-year-old South Carolina man ran off the left side of the roadway and impacted the median cables before traveling into the eastbound lanes and impacting another semi head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was a 58-year-old man from Colorado.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The accident occurred at 1:59 p.m. at Mile Marker 53 on eastbound I-70.
