A Macon man lost his life after losing control of his car on a highway east of the city Saturday, Feb. 8.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the 45-year-old driver was heading west on Route PP about three miles southeast of Macon when at around 4:05 p.m., his vehicle went off the side of the roadway. The driver over-corrected and went off the left side, striking a fence. His car then slid into a pond and submerged. He was taken to an area hospital where he died two hours later. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
