Grace Slaughter tallied more points than all of Texas A&M in the third quarter, leading the Missouri Tigers to a 69-59 victory Sunday, Feb. 9 in College Station, Texas.
Slaughter led the Tigers with 29 points, with 14 of them coming in the third quarter. Slaughter’s first tray came in the second quarter, sparking a 9-0 run that wiped out the Aggies lead and sent both teams to the locker room tied at 31. Her other two three pointers came in the third quarter, as she along with Ashton Judd combined to score the last eight points of the quarter, while the Aggies were only able to score 12. The Tigers expanded their lead in the fourth quarter, at one point leading by 18.
Despite going just 31 percent from the field, the Tigers went 10-for-29 from three-point range, and claimed nine steals to A&M’s one. The Aggies turned the ball over 19 times, including six in that fateful third quarter. Joining Slaughter in double figures for the Tigers were De’Myla Brown with 12 points and Abbey Schreacke with 10 points, including a free throw after she was fouled when making her first of three three-point baskets in the game.
The Tigers are even on the season with a 13-13 record, having won just their second SEC game of the season. Mizzou will wait a week before returning to action, welcoming Oklahoma to Mizzou Arena next Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
