The Missouri Valley women’s basketball squad led throughout their game Saturday, Feb. 8 against Clarke, sailing to a 94-62 win at the Burns Athletic Complex, while the men used a strong first half to complete the sweep by winning 79-63.

The Vikings blitzed the Pride by scoring ten points in the first two minutes, including three-point baskets by Ylenia Exposito and Ricarda Schott. The Vikings led by 13 after one and 18 at the half. The second half was much of the same, as the Vikings shot 61 percent from the field, and 10 different players registered points, including four in double figures. Exposito led the way with 19 points, while Rajone Callahan added 13 and Gia Moore tallied 12 points to go with her eight assists. D’Ajha Horton came off the bench to score 11. The men’s game saw Jarrius Burnett lift the Vikings to a sizable lead in the first half, then maintain it as Missouri Valley led by 17 at the half. All but two of Burnett’s team-leading 19 points came in the first half, as four of his five three-point baskets for the half expanded the Viking lead midway through the frame. The Vikings led by as much as 23 in the second half, as they were able to complete the sweep and advance to 11-13 on the year and back to a .500 mark in the Heart of America.
