Among the officers representing the Saline County Career Center’s FBLA Chapter during their visit to the Marshall City Offices on Monday was a sophomore who is using her skills learned within the organization to promote the group to a younger audience.

Reporter Brianna Carillo joined six of the chapter’s 46 members for a ceremony where Marshall Mayor Vince Lutterbie presented a proclamation recognizing National FBLA Week. She tells KMMO some of the biggest lessons she’s learned thus far from the organization.

Carillo credits FBLA and her adviser Tracy Crumbaugh for inspiring her interest in marketing. She’s used her skills to promote FBLA to middle school students with an eight-minute video. She has this advice for them and any of her peers who are thinking about joining the organization.

Carillo recently qualified for state competition in two contests, finishing third in Intro to Marketing Concepts and fourth in User Experience (UX) Design at the district contest last week in Chillicothe. She’ll be among 14 Saline County FBLA members competing at the State Leadership Conference in April in Springfield.
