A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Route 36 in eastern Macon County on Saturday, Feb. 15 claimed the life of one driver.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash just before 11 a.m. at the junction with Route V outside Anabel. Troopers report that a car driven by a 52-year-old from Anabel drove north into the intersection, when he was struck by a pickup driven by a 49-year-old from Atlanta. The driver from Anabel was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup’s driver was treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries. Troopers say that both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
