With Monday, Feb. 17 being a federal holiday, several city governments have rescheduled their meetings to later this week.
The Concordia Board of Aldermen is among the bodies now set to meet Tuesday, Feb. 18, weather permitting. Their meeting at 5 p.m. will include discussion on ordinances that would extend the franchise agreements with Evergy for electrical service and Spire for natural gas services. Those agreements would each run for another 20 years. The board will also participate in a discussion with Accru IT Systems about protecting the city’s information from cyber attacks. The Higginsville Board of Aldermen will meet at 6 p.m., with the aldermen considering liquor and amusement licenses for the new owners of Higginsville Lanes. Moberly’s City Council has a light agenda for Tuesday’s scheduled meeting, with resolutions under consideration for this year’s fireworks displays by J&M Displays and a downtown parking study by Bartlett & West. The Boonville City Council is also scheduled to meet Tuesday, while the Carrollton Town Council and Sedalia City Council will both meet Wednesday night.
Two councils that normally Tuesday night remain scheduled to do so. The Marshall City Council will have a work session Tuesday at 5 p.m. to discuss whether the city wishes to change course on the future of the Eastwood School site. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., with the council formally appointing their city attorney as well as new members to the planning commission. Marshall Municipal Utilities and Marshall Police Department will also deliver their annual reports, and the council will give second reading to the annual emergency management agreement with Saline County. The Slater City Council will meet Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., with the council expected to consider bids for the waste water plant truck and discuss inspection of the water tower.
Despite the holiday, two school boards are scheduled to meet Monday night. The Miami R-I School Board will review their materials concerning their Proposition Mustangs ballot measure at Monday’s meeting and consider the salary schedule for next school year. Their meeting begins at 6 p.m. The Lincoln R-II School Board will receive a pair of program evaluations at their meeting that starts at 7 p.m.
