The Slater City Council reviewed and accepted a bid for an inspection of the city’s water towers during its meeting on Tuesday night.
City Administrator Gene Griffith explained that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources requires storage tanks and towers to be inspected every five years. Griffith says two of the city’s towers are now due.
The council received two bids for the work, accepting the low bid from Inland Potable Services in the amount of $9,450. The other bid was almost $6,000 more expensive. The inspections will be completed this fall.
In other news, the council wanted to remind residents that City Hall is available as a warming shelter as extremely cold temperatures linger for the next few days.
