A Slater man will spend the next two decades in a state penitentiary after pleading guilty to two charges of child molestation.

36-year-old Robert Brooks was sentenced in a Saline County courtroom Thursday, after admitting in December that he molested a minor under 14 years of age twice between August 2020 and October 2023. Brooks pleaded guilty in December to the two charges, while the state dismissed a statutory sodomy charge. Brooks was sentenced to ten years for each charge, which he will serve consecutively. He’s also required to undergo a sexual offender assessment within 120 days, and will have to register as a sex offender once he serves his sentence.
