
Charles F. “Charlie” Payne Jr., 96, of rural Concordia, MO, died Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia with Josh Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Concordia Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Concordia Parks and Recreation or Tri-City Country Club. Born May 4, 1928, in Corder, MO, he was the son of the late Charles Fred Payne and Clarice Louise Rohring Payne. Charlie lived in the Lafayette County area his entire life and was a 1946 graduate of Waverly High School. On August 12, 1949, he married Hazel J. Flandermeyer who preceded him in death on May 2, 2007. Charlie was blessed to have a career that he loved, and that was farming. He was a member of Concordia Baptist Church and Tri-City Country Club. Charlie enjoyed golfing, watching sports, playing cards and working in his yard.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Debra Payne; grandson, Joshua Payne and wife Larin; granddaughter, Girl Jordan Welch and husband Boy Jordan Welch; two great-granddaughters, Reina Payne and Estella Payne; three great-grandsons, Jacob Payne, Jaxon Welch and Jentry Welch; one sister, Donna Rehkop; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and wife; one daughter, Charlise Payne Daughtery; one son, Jon Payne; one brother, George Payne; and a sister, Mary Lou Prock.
