The Saline County Commission has formally approved the language enabling the senior tax credit for residents age 62 and older to claim on their primary residence.
Commissioners adopted the ordinance as presented at Tuesday, Feb. 25’s session, along with the layout of the application. Residents seeking the credit will need to provide proof of ownership, residence, and age with their initial application, and have their application notarized at their bank or other notary official’s office. The Saline County Collector’s office will begin accepting applications from Monday until the deadline for tax year 2025 of Aug. 31.
After the ordinance’s passage, collector Cindi Sims informed the commission and interested residents in attendance that over 1300 requests for applications had been made to her office. She notes that requested applications will go out in the mail Wednesday, and copies will be available in her office as well as the county treasurer’s office.
Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden read the ordinance aloud in its entirety prior to its passage. You can view the ordinance here.
