City officials in Sedalia are budgeting for a four-percent increase in revenue as part of their proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2026.

Interim City Administrator Matthew Wirt says recent sales and use tax collections for Sedalia are showing strength compared to the statewide average and surrounding communities.

Wirt presented an initial overview of the budget at last Wednesday’s city council meeting, ahead of a budget work session Monday evening at City Hall. Wirt says once the budget is enacted by the council, a digital copy will be available on the city’s website.

As of 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, the budget for Fiscal Year 2024 is the most recent budget posted on the city’s website.  The new budget must be in place by the start of Sedalia’s fiscal year, April 1.
