State Fair Community College sophomore Tim Hill has won the National Sound Design Award for Region V for The Mousetrap, earning a spot at the National Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Washington, D.C., in April.

At the national festival, Hill will present his designs, network with professional and student designers, and compete for fellowships and industry training opportunities.

In addition to Hill’s national recognition, SFCC Theatre had a strong showing at the regional festival. Eight students competed in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions, with Ross Owen and Matthew Womble advancing to the semifinal round, placing in the top 20 percent of competitors. Five students received callbacks from professional summer theater companies, and four students showcased their talents in the Musical Theatre Intensive Auditions.

SFCC Theatre also earned 12 Certificates of Meritorious Achievement for its productions throughout the 2024 season.
