Three power-play goals by Wyatt Johnston were the difference Sunday, March 2 in Dallas, as the St Louis Blues’ four-game win streak was snapped by a 6-3 loss to the Stars at American Airlines Center.

Johnston’s first goal game with less than two seconds left in the first period to give the Stars a 3-2 lead. The goal prompted Blues coach Jim Montgomery to make a change for the second period, switching goalie Joel Hofer for Jordan Binnington less than a day after Binnington played a full 60 minutes at home. It only took 76 seconds for Dallas to get one past Binnington, but the Blues were able to claim one back seven minutes later when Nathan Walker batted his shot into goal. However, despite the Blues’ 42 shots on goal, Stars keeper Jake Oettinger made 39 saves to give Dallas breathing room and allow the Stars to make the most of their 21 shots.

Zac Bolduc and Dylan Holloway recorded first-period goals for the Blues, while Robert Thomas recorded an assist to extend his points streak to ten games. The loss still has the Blues on 64 points, one behind Calgary and Vancouver for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference; however, both squads now have two games in hand. The Blues will spend the week in Southern California, with a rematch against the Los Angeles Kings set for Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.
