The Concordia Board of Aldermen approved the second reading of an ordinance approving a franchise extension with Spire during its meeting on Monday, March 3.

The board approved first readings for renewal agreements with both Spire and Evergy during its February 18 meeting. The board’s initial plan was to vote on the second reading for both of these agreements during its meeting on March 17. However, City Administrator Dale Klussman said Spire requested the board vote on this agreement sooner rather than later.

The board received no questions or comments concerning the 20-year-extension with Spire. The board passed this agreement with a unanimous vote. Aldermen still plan to review the agreement with Evergy during its meeting on March 17.
