Two Missouri Valley Vikings earned Heart of America Athletic Conference weekly awards in recognition for their successful starts to the the season.

Tanner Duncan is the Heart Pitcher of the Week, after his complete game shutout against Benedictine on Saturday. Duncan went seven innings, giving up four hits and no runs, with two strikeouts, as the Vikings picked up the 3-0 win to open the four-game weekend series that Missouri Valley swept. Duncan also had a hit from the plate in the game.

Milene Marciniuk is the Heart Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Playing in the number-two singles position, Marciniuk won her singles match 6-4, 6-2 over Shannon Finn of Saint Mary, then worked with Renata Olvera to win the number-one doubles match, leading Missouri Valley to the 6-1 contest win. Marciniuk also claimed a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Maisie Markowitz, leading the Vikings to a weekend win over former conference foes William Jewell of NCAA’s Division II.
