The Johnson County Commission awarded a bid to conduct mill and overlay work on Business Highway 13.
The commission reviewed two bids for the work, with both coming in under budget. Presiding Commissioner Troy Matthews said the commission decided to accept the low bid from Emery Sapp and Sons.
Matthews says the bid was awarded in the amount of $1.73 million.
In other news, the commission rejected bids for roof insulation replacement at the Detention Center. The county received a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to complete this project. Matthews says each of the bids came in way higher than the grant would be able to cover.
The commission sent out for bids this week and will review them at a future meeting.
