The Slater City Council approved a contract for street work during its meeting on Tuesday, March 4.
The council reviewed the quote from Vance Brothers, which came in three cents higher per square yard than last year. This year’s quote increased to $2.79 per square yard for the chip and seal work in the city. City Administrator Gene Griffith said the city does about 50,000 square yards every year. The council approved this contract and the work is slated to begin this summer.
In other news, Mayor Terry Jordan spoke about McQueen Day during his report. McQueen day is scheduled for Saturday, June 14. Jordan says preparations for the car show are underway, and encourages families to enjoy the event.
