More changes are in the works at Marshall Schools for the next school year, as the Board of Education voted Tuesday, March 11 for a new food service and copier supplier.

The board agreed to the recommendation that SFE replace Opaa! as the district’s food provider. Supt. Caleb Petet says the new contract would save the district about $70,000 a year.

Petet says a committee comprised of students and staff helped to select SFE. He adds that with the cost savings expected next year, lunch prices will remain the same.

Meal prices for students next school year will remain $2.45 at the high school, $2.40 at Bueker Middle School, $2.35 for Spainhower Primary and the new intermediate school, $1.15 for breakfast, and $0.40 for students that qualify for reduced lunch.

Also Tuesday night, the board agreed to move their copier services contract from Ricoh to Toshiba, which includes the elimination of the copy center at the Tom Butterfield Early Childhood Center. Petet says the move will slice the district’s annual contract cost in half, even after placing additional copiers in each building.

One provider did remain the same, as the Marshall School Board approved a new five-year contract for tech management services with Converged Technology, which will run $157,000 next school year, before increasing three percent each successive year. The board also approved the capital outlay plan for the next school year totaling $250,534.25, along with a tech overlay plan that totals $734,080.63. The board also approved trial memberships with UVU Gym and the Salt Fork YMCA for district staff to utilize either facility’s gym equipment over the next three months. The district will survey staff in the spring to determine their preferences going forward.
