The Saline County Commission approved four hires at Wednesday morning’s regular session, but not all the hires were unanimous.
The commission voted 2-1 in favor of the hire of Christopher Chamberlain to the Sheriff’s Department, with northern district commissioner Stephanie Gooden opposed. The commission was unanimous in their support of hiring new deputies Mateo McBride and Brian Woods. Elsewhere, commissioners approved the hire of Stephen Murrell as an assistant in the prosecuting attorney’s office.
Courthouse lawn use requests were approved for the Marshall High School alumni reunion “Return to the Roost” event June 13 and 14, as well as a child abuse awareness month display April 4. The planned installation of pinwheels in the northeast corner of the square had initially been approved by commissioners in January, but with an incorrect date listed. Commissioners also announced that a final walkthrough to inspect renovations to the Saline County Justice Center will take place in the next couple of weeks.
