Two area teams came up short in bids to advance to state championship games Wednesday, March 12, as both will now play for third place Thursday afternoon at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Lone Jack was taken down by Fair Grove 55-22 in the Class Three girls semifinal. The Mules will face Portageville at noon today, following the Bulldogs’ 61-29 loss earlier in the day to Principia of St Louis. They’ll be followed by the Lincoln Cardinals in the Class Two boys third-place contest, as the Cardinals were downed by Eugene 67-33. All of yesterday’s finals are as follows:
