The Marceline City Council gave its approval to a letter expressing support for a grant sought by the city’s downtown association.
City clerk Lindsay Krumpelman tells KMMO News that the council voted Thursday, March 13 to authorize city manager Jesse Wallis to submit a letter supporting the grant application. Krumpelman says that the Downtown Marceline Foundation is seeking a grant to cover the cost of a new sound system. The council received a presentation on the proposal before voting to approve the letter.
The council also voted to increase the schedule for fees to use the city pool this year. Krumpelman says that effective March 31, entry fees are increasing by $1 per visit, making the ten-punch pass an additional $10. The three-month and annual passes will each increase by $25, and the party rental rates will increase by $50. Krumpelman adds that the last rate increase was in 2018. The council also approved a request from the recreation and parks board to dedicate the proceeds from an upcoming basketball tournament to fund new equipment for the city’s playground. Council members also approved ordinances updating city codes to reflect recent changes in state law.
