The Missouri Valley Viking women’s wrestling team is ranked fifth after day one of the 2025 NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Championships, which began Friday, March 14 in Park City, Ks.

Five wrestlers have earned All-American honors, with four of them earning berths into the semifinals. Jasmina Immaeva, seeded fourth in the 124-pound bracket, made her way to the semifinals after defeating fifth-seeded Rose Kaplan of Indiana Tech in a 5-3 decision. She’ll face top-seeded Cristelle Rodriquez of Doane (Neb.) in the semis.

Xochitl Mota-Pettis has only conceded one point thus far in her run through the 131-pound bracket. The third-seeded Mota-Pettis claimed a 12-1 technical fall of Olivia Mottley of Life University (Ga.) to advance to the semifinals, where she will face second-sseded Mercy Adekuoroye of Wayland Baptist (Tex.).

One of the tournament’s biggest surprises has been the unseeded Severign Aumua. The freshman from Grain Valley has yet to concede a point, claiming technical falls of fourth-seed Aevri Ciha of Doane and fifth-seed Krista Warren of Grand View (Ia.) Her next challenge is top-seeded Jamila McBryde of Life.

Kelani Corbett is a five-time All-American. The Hawaiian received a first-round bye before defeating sixth-seeded Reka Busa of Life in an 11-0 technical fall to book a spot in the 180-pound semifinal. Her semifinal opponent this (Saturday) morning is unseeded Jannell Avila of Baker (Ks.), who claimed victories over the seventh- and second-seeded wrestlers.

Valley’s fifth All-American is Serenity De La Garza in the 138-pound class. After being pinned in just under two minutes by second-seed Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence (Mont.), De La Garza posted wins over Central Methodist’s Lilly Gough and fourth-seed Kendall Bostelman of William Penn (Ia.). De La Garza’s second All-American campaign continues when she faces William Penn’s Isabelle Hawley in the fifth consolation round.

Missouri Valley enter Saturday ranked fifth on 70 points. Life University lead the standings with 118.5 points, followed by Grand View, William Penn, and Cumberlands (Ky.) The semifinals and consolation rounds begin at 10 a.m., and the national title bouts are set for 7 p.m.
