Periodic street closures are scheduled in the City of Moberly to allow multiple sewer infrastructure and road maintenance projects to begin.
Public Utility contractors will begin construction at the Sparks Avenue railroad crossing on Monday, March 17, to upgrade the wastewater treatment collection system. This project will install a sewer lift station, gravity sewer and force main in an area lacking public sanitary sewer infrastructure.
The Sparks Avenue closure will move progressively west in sequential blocks toward Robinson Road as work is completed. Any nonresidential traffic is encouraged to use North Avenue as an alternative access to the area.
As part of its annual street maintenance program, the Public Works department will conduct repairs on Longview West in two phases. On Monday, concrete contractors for the City will begin replacing curbs, gutters, and deteriorated sections of road surface. This work will continue for several weeks, weather permitting. Crews will start on the south side of the street and then move to the north side, and temporary lane restrictions may be in place. The city asks that residents avoid parking on the construction side of the street during active work hours. In the fall, a paving contractor selected by the City will return to complete roadway resurfacing.
