The Cairo Bearcats came up short for a second straight year in their bid for a Class One girls state championship.

The CAC champions fell 44-43 to Chadwick on Saturday night at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, settling for second in Class One. Cairo finish the season with a 25-7 record. Meanwhile, the Chadwick Cardinals swept the Class One titles, as their boys team repeated as state champions with a 72-53 win over St Elizabeth. Braymer took Wheatland to overtime in the Class One boys third place game, but fell 57-53 to close the season out at 17-12. Walnut Grove finished third in the girls bracket with a 58-45 win over Rock Port.

The Tipton girls finished third in Class Two, rolling to a 61-42 win over Norwood. The Cardinals season concludes at 27-5. Skyline successfully defended their state title with a 53-45 victory over St Vincent of Perryville.

Brackets are set for the semifinals of the larger classifications, and neither of the Class Four brackets will feature Mexico. The Bulldog girls were trounced by MICDS on Saturday afternoon 76-46, while the boys fell that evening to Vashon 64-54. Boonville girls also came up short in their bid for a spot in the Class Four semifinals, falling to St Joseph Benton 62-42.
