
Two Missouri Valley women’s wrestlers finished as runners-up at the 2025 NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Championships on Saturday in Park City, Kansas.
Kelani Corbett wrapped up her career at Valley by defeating Jannell Avila of Baker (Ks.) in the semifinals of the 180-pound class, pinning Avila in 3:39. In the national final, Corbett was defeated in a 12-2 technical fall by top-seeded Ashley Lekas of Texas Wesleyan. Corbett earned her fifth All-American finish. Xochitl Mota-Pettis also finished as a runner-up, doing so in the 131-pound class. After defeating Mercy Adekuoroye of Wayland Baptist (Texas), Mota-Pettis loss a 5-3 decision in the national title bout to Jumoke Adekoye of Dickinson State of North Dakota.
Also placing Saturday was Sevreign Aumua, who finished fourth in the 145-pound class. The freshman from Grain Valley fell into the consolation rounds with a 14-4 technical fall claimed by top-seeded Jamilah McBryde of Life University of Georgia. Aumua made her way to the third-place match after defeating Aubrey Yauger of Texas Wesleyan, where she was pinned in just under three minutes by Liv Wieber of Eastern Oregon. Jasmina Immaeva finished fifth in the 124-pound class after claiming her second victory over Rose Kaplan of Indiana Tech. She dropped contests against top-seeded Cristelle Rodriguez of Doane (Neb.) and Catherine Campbell of Grand View (Iowa). Serenity De La Garza finished sixth in the 138-pound class. She needed just 33 seconds to pin Isabelle Hawley in the fifth consolation round, but was then pinned in the consolation semis by Reagan Gallaway of Hastings (Neb.) and in the fifth-place match by Jordan Suarez of Wayland Baptist.
Missouri Valley wrapped up the weekend fifth in the team standings on 101.5 points. Life University claimed the national title with 190.5 points, followed by Grand View, Cumberlands of Kentucky, and William Penn.
