Missouri Department of Transportation crews will begin preliminary work this week to prepare the site of a bridge replacement project in the northern part of Glasgow.

Crews will begin clearing trees and brush surrounding the Route 5 bridge over Bear Creek on Wednesday, March 19, with this phase of the project expected to take two weeks. Motorists are asked to stay alert for equipment moving in the highway that may result in brief lane closures. The bridge will then be reduced to one 11-foot wide lane in late April, with temporary traffic signals in place, to allow motorists to travel through the work zone.

E & C Bridge was awarded the project in October. The new bridge, with increased accessibility for pedestrians and improved safety for all roadway users, is expected to be completed by September.
