The Concordia Board of Aldermen approved ordinances granting 20-year extensions with Evergy Missouri Metro and Evergy Missouri West during its meeting on Monday, March 17.
The board passed first readings for these agreements during its February 18 meeting, and decided to table any action on the second reading for 30 days to allow for public comments. City Administrator Dale Klussman says these agreements cover both the northern and southern parts of Concordia.
Aldermen had previously approve the franchise extension with Spire during a meeting earlier this month.
In other news, the board had a discussion with Jay Chastain of InfinityTech concerning IT and cybersecurity needs for the city. This is the second company the board has met with recently, and plans to meet with a third during a special meeting on Monday, March 24. Klussman says the board hopes to make a decision regarding its It and cybersecurity needs during a future meeting in April.
