
The Sedalia City Council gave their approval Monday, March 17 to a pair of contracts for firms to complete rehabilitation work to the main runway at Sedalia Regional Airport.

Fahrner Ashpalt Sealers will complete the work for $266,949.50, while a supplemental agreement delegates H.W. Lochner to provide construction services for the project totaling $11,499.79
Also Monday night, the council approved a request from The Embassy drug treatment ministry for an additional $100,000 from the Opioid Settlement Fund to complete renovations to their facilities. Wirt says additional issues materialized as they began their project last summer.
The Embassy received an initial grant of $50,000 from the fund last August to complete improvements at their two facilities in Sedalia.
In other action, the Sedalia City Council adopted its agenda for Fiscal Year 2026 and approved final budget amendments for the current fiscal year. The council also provided the annual appropriation of $140,000 for Economic Development of Sedalia-Pettis County and $12,000 to the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Foundation, a $2000 increase from previous years. The council also agreed to a contract extension with Martin Energy group for generator maintenance, and approved change orders for network upgrades at two water treatment plants as well as an extended stormwater pipe along S. 13th St. west of Beacon.
