The Marshall High School Baseball team is beginning its season on Saturday with a couple of home games against Tipton and Chillicothe.
The Owls go into the new season with a familiar face at head coach. Ian Verts returns as Head Baseball Coach, previously coaching the team from 2007-2015. Verts steps into the role after previous coach Greg Woodring stepped down following the 2024 season. Verts says he’s excited to be back with the program and is ready for the season ahead.
Verts says his coaching staff is focused on helping its players build a good process to have sustainable results on the diamond.
The Owls ended the season last year 6-21, falling to Excelsior Springs 4-3 in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 13 tournament.
Marshall welcomes Tipton and Chillicothe for its triangular on Saturday, March 22. The Owls get the day started by taking on Tipton at 11. Tipton will then face Chillicothe at 1. Marshall will wrap up the day by taking on Chillicothe at around 3 p.m.
