Northwest R-V Schools in Hughesville and Houstonia will maintain their teacher base pay at $40,000 for the next school year.

At last week’s board of education meeting, the board voted to keep pay level with the current school year. Northwest Supt. Amy Fagg tells KMMO News that the district will continue to receive the state’s minimum salary grant to cover $5000 of each teacher’s base salary. Meanwhile, the district is continue to solicit bids for staff and faculty health insurance for the next school year, and expected to have a bid selected for consideration at the next board meeting April 14.

Supt. Fagg notes that Northwest Schools have finalized the calendar for the 2025-26 school year. The first day of school will be Aug. 19, with 148 student days scheduled. Fagg adds that the district will keep the four-day school week schedule and not make use of the new salary incentive provided by the state to districts who have class at least 169 days. She says that the one percent incentive would have amounted to an annual pay increase of about $200, and a survey of the district’s teachers found that they overwhelmingly preferred retaining the four-day week.
