The Pettis County Fire Protection District is announcing a burn ban for the county, effective immediately.

Fire chief Mike Harding tells KMMO News that the ban is in effect until further notice. Pettis County remains under a wind advisory and red flag warning Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and the county is also abnormally dry according to last week’s USDA Drought Monitor.

As part of the burn ban, the City of Sedalia informs residents that no open burning or recreational fire pits are allowed until the ban is lifted.
