Philip Broberg’s backhand shot secured both points for the St Louis Blues, as the Blues took over the driver’s seat in the chase for the West’s second wild card spot with a 4-3 win on Thursday, March 20 in St Louis over the Vancouver Canucks.

The Blues capitalized on a turnover with 90 seconds remaining in the overtime period, with Brayden Schenn launching a breakaway. He passed the puck to Broberg, who snuck the game-winning shot around Kevin Lankinen. Zack Bolduc put the Blues on the board late in the second period, while Tyler Tucker and Dylan Holloway scored within 30 seconds of each other to flip the game back in the Blues’ favor. However, Brock Boeser’s goal with four seconds remaining–his second of the period–snatched a point for the Canucks and forced overtime. Jordan Binnington recorded 15 saves in the game, while the Blues registered 29 shots on goal.

The Blues improve to 77 points, one ahead of the Canucks and two better than Calgary. However, Vancouver continue to have one game in hand on the Blues, while Calgary have two. The Blues prepare to host Chicago on Saturday afternoon, with puck drop at 2 p.m.
