Several buildings around the Carrollton Square could receive a facelift later this year with help from a community development block grant.

The Carrollton Town Council approved the submission of an application for the grant, after a public hearing at the beginning of their meeting Monday, March 17. Mayor Susie Bliss details the grant’s potential impact on the downtown area.

Bliss says a firm working on behalf of the city will submit the grant application in the next month.

Also at Monday night’s meeting, the town council agreed to sell a property in the eastern portion of the industrial park, and approved new dates for PraiseFest to use Walnut Hills Park. The event will now take place June 11-14. The council also agreed to a request from the finance department to strike unpaid personal property tax bills that the city is no longer able to collect, with some outstanding balances dating back 20 years.
