The Santa Fe R-X School Board of Education formalized a cooperative agreement Thursday, March 20 with Norborne Schools, allowing some Norborne students to exchange their pirate swords for baseball bats.

Supt. Derek Lark says the agreement will be in effect for Santa Fe’s opening game Friday afternoon at Kingsville, and last for two seasons.

Lark says while the schedule, including contests in the I-70 Conference, had already been set, some changes are being made to accommodate the team members from Norborne.

Santa Fe’s first home baseball contest is Wednesday against Northwest of Hughesville. They’ll compete in the Class Two, District 14 tournament this May.

Also at Thursday night’s school board meeting, the Santa Fe school board approved the hire of Tanner Sears as their newest physical education teacher.
