A Missouri Valley College baseball student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his performance from the plate over the weekend.
Designated Hitter Tanner Duncan was named the Heart Player of the Week after his performance in a four-game series against William Penn (Iowa). Duncan totaled nine hits, eight runs scored, 10 RBIs, two doubles, five home runs and 26 total bases in the series. His two-run homer in game two helped the Vikings earn an 8-7 win. Duncan also finished with a .750 batting average, .824 on-base percentage, and a slugging percentage of 2.167. He also added a five-inning pitching performance in game three, striking out seven batters.
This is the first player of the week award for Duncan this season, and the second weekly award during the 2025 campaign. Duncan earned the Heart Pitcher of the Week award back on March 3, becoming the first player in program-history to earn the conference’s pitching honor.
This week, the Viking baseball team goes to Avila (Mo.) for a 9-inning non-conference game, Tuesday at 1 p.m. The team also plays a four-game Heart series in Olathe, Kansas, against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.). First doubleheader is Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
