Sunday morning’s rainfall was enough for the Pettis County Fire Protection District and City of Sedalia to lift their burn bans as of Monday, March 24, 2025.
The Sedalia Fire Department says that residents can again use their recreational fire pits. The city reminds the community to use caution when burning and to never leave a fire unattended. Residents are also reminded to seek a permit before burning any brush piles.
Pettis County Fire advises the county’s residents to call the department before starting a controlled burn so that it is properly reported, and to also remain alert for wind conditions and surroundings while burning.
