Faculty and staff at Slater Schools will have a new health insurance provider next school year.

The vote to change providers took place at the board of education meeting Tuesday, March 25. Supt. Dr Terry Lorenz says the change should reduce the district’s costs around five percent.

Staff will have three coverage options to choose from. Lorenz says faculty and staff will see a raise next year to bring the district in line with new state laws on teacher pay.

The Slater School Board also voted to approve the career ladder application for the next school year, as well as the calendar for the next school year. Board members also approved an 80-cent increase in the price of adult meals, with plans to increase the price another 80 cents next year after an audit found that the district was undercharging for the meals. As part of their cover-to-cover review of district policies, the Slater school board also gave final approval to updates concerning fiscal management, while giving the section on support services a second read and facilities development a first reading.
