The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works approved the purchase of a property that borders the Miami Substation during its meeting on Thursday, March 27.
MMU learned that Crescent Electric was closing its business and selling the property located at 388 North Miami Street. MMU staff toured the property in January. The building is 60 feet by 90 feet and includes two offices and a dock. MMU plans to use this building as a lay down area and storage for multiple projects, including the Marshall Energy Center Project and the 15kV switchgear and transformer replacement projects at the Miami Substation.
The board believes the building could be useful after those projects are complete. The board approved a motion to purchase the building in the amount of $325,000. Marshall Mayor Vince Lutterbie will have to sign the contract.
In other news, the board voted to request the city council to authorize the Mayor to sign a master services agreement with Toth and Associates to provide electrical engineering and design services.
